Varpuja hat

A pattern for a hat with lace and cables.

(Ohje löytyy suomeksi TÄÄLTÄ)

Yarn: Around 100g of worsted weight yarn. I used 83g of Novita 7 Veljestä Eero
Needles: 4mm
Gauge: 5x5cm of cable rib = 15 stitches x 15 rows, measured without any blocking
Size: Adult
Other: A cable needle. If you want to crochet the bobbles, you will need a 4mm crochet hook.
Please note that the pattern is not symmetrical, so if you are right handed, your hat will be a mirrored version of mine.

The pattern:

Cast on 110 stitches. Join to work in the round. Start knitting from round 1 of the rib chart. Repeat the chart 5 times per round. Knit rounds 1-24.
Now start knitting the hat chart. Repeat the chart 5 times per round. You will increase 15 stitches on the first round. Knit rounds 1-47.
When you are done with the chart, you will have 15 stitches left. Cut the yarn, thread through the stitches and pull tight to close the hole. Weave in ends.

Bobble:
crochet: (UK terms) 4 half treble together in the marked stitch. Chain 1 and "anchor" the bobble by making a slip stitch into a stitch one row below(the wrong side of the bobble will turn to face the front). Move the stitch from the hook to the right needle.
knit: k1,yo,k1,yo,k1,yo,k1 into the marked stitch. Turn work and purl 7. Turn work and knit 7. Pull the 6., 5., 4., 3., 2. and 1. stitch over the 7. stitch.
