Old and new

This week I made a pair of socks and of course I was going to make a post about them. Then today, when going through my closet I found a pair of socks that I made last year, so why not include them as well.

These are the "old" ones (not that old because I only made them last year, but compared to the other pair, which is my most recent pair of socks):

Well, these are not specifically socks, more like a sock/slipper mix. This pattern is from Novita Sukkalehti 2015 and yarn is Novita Isoveli. I originally made these for myself, but I didn't really use them (that's why they ended up in the closet), so I gave them to my mom.

As you can see, the bottom makes it more of a slipper than a sock. That and the yarn is quite thick so they won't really fit in any shoes.

And here is the new pair, I finished them couple of days ago. This is my own pattern, I wanted to try a mix of different stitches in a multicoloured yarn. These have stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch and garter stitch.

It looks quite nice in my opinion. There is texture even though the pattern is just simple knit and purl.
This yarn is Pro Lana Pro Socks 4 Fach Romantic mit Aloe Vera (yeah, a super long name but gotta give credit) and I used 3mm needles.

Nothing really spectacular but a fun and quick project and good for trying out an idea. These socks are very thin and light, so great for layering in the winter time.

Here's a "full body" picture. They curl up a bit so they don't look the prettiest here (and I usually don't block my socks), but they fit, which is the most important thing.

Black and white anelmaiset

Another pair of anelmaiset, this time black and white with red as a pop of colour.

They turned out very nice looking and since I was already familiar with the pattern they were also easier and quicker to make than my first pair.
The pattern is also on Ravelry here. I used Novita 7 Veljestä and 3,5mm needles.

I also made yet another pair of baby socks, again using the junasukka pattern. The white yarn is Schachenmayr Fine Wool and the pink was from my stash of thin sock yarns.

My Lily Pond is complete!

I'm so happy, it turned out super pretty! And making it was fun too, there were so many different techniques and colour changes which kept me interested throughout.

Some photos of the process. I'm sorry for these first two photos being so yellow, it was already dark outside and I only had my regular lamps.

Here I'm starting to see the full size of the blanket.

And here is the finished blanket! It is so beautiful and I love the colours.

I'll link the Ravelry page of this blanket here. The pattern is designed by Jane Crowfoot and the yarn I used is Stylecraft Life DK.

Some more pictures.

This flower is my favourite.

I can't think of anything else to say, except that I love the finished blanket and I loved making it. I'm thinking of doing yet another blanket with all my Stylecraft leftovers, something super colourful and cozy.

Socks again

These socks will be a birthday gift for my grandmom. When I was little she used to knit things for me, and now I can do the same to her.

It's just a basic pattern. Her feet are smaller than mine so I could't take a picture of what they look like when worn. Yarn is Novita Nalle and I used 3mm needles.

My Lily Pond is also doing great. Soon I can start joining the pieces. It's so pretty!

Started a new blanket!

I love love love making blankets. I don't now what it is about them, maybe it's the satisfaction of seeing it grow as you make and knowing it will keep you warm. I have so many ideas for future blankets and I constantly want to start a new one.

So I did start a new one. This one will be the Lily Pond Blanket by Jane Crowfoot. Yarn is Stylecraft Life DK.

Here's what I have so far. This is so much fun and I'm already super excited! Can't wait to make more and more.
