Wavy stuff

A knit scarf and a crochet beret made with Novita Aalto.

The beret is made with this pattern from Lion Brand. I made size M with a 5mm hook and it was huge so I added a few more rows of sc in the end to make it tighter around the head.

The scarf was made with 4mm needles and the pattern is Kureopatora's Snake. It was quick to make and I really like the soft curves the pattern forms.

These two were my first summer projects this year. I don't know how much more will come because right now I really feel like making huge warm shawls and sweaters.

Mandala Madness parts 9 & 10

This blanket is getting bigger and bigger, and taking pictures of it is getting harder so sorry for the clutter in the photos. I haven't bought new yarn since part six, but I might have to buy some soon because I really want some green in here.

Part 9 was a bit wobbly.

Part 10. This was fun to make, something different again.

Looking good. This blanket will be huge when finished, there are still 8 parts left.

Making shawls

I've been really into making shawls lately, both knit and crochet. I don't know why because I don't even wear them that much but maybe I should start now.

Here are two crochet triangle shawls where the main part is made with the same pattern and the edging is different for both. Both of these are my own patterns.

The first one is simpler, made with Drops Baby Merino and Lang Yarns Jawoll Magic Dégradé. The edging is made with a 3,5mm hook and the main part with I think a 4,5mm.

This shape was easy to block. I think this is a nice and simple basic shawl pattern.

This is the second one, the main part is the same pattern as the first one. I only had one skein of that yarn so I made it larger with the white part. The yarn for the main part is Akvarelli Elli, a Finnish wool yarn, and I again used a 4,5mm hook. The white yarn is Schachenmayr Fine wool and the green is the same yarn used in the first shawl, and for this part I used a 3,5mm hook.

A better picture of the pattern details.

This picture is from March this year when I started making these shawls. It took me a while to finish the last details, as always, but I'm pretty happy with these.

Mandala Madness parts 7 & 8

I had just started part 8 when I realized that I didn't have a picture of part 7, so the ball of yarn is covering what I had started of round 8. I really love the turquoise/light blue & pink colour combo.

And part 8. I really like the look of this part, the pattern reminds me of peacock feathers for some reason. The long stitches were a bit of a challenge but they look ok and it was fun to do something different for me.

Light blue shawl

Another small victory in getting rid of my stash. This pretty pattern is from Simply Crochet 43, designed by Annelies Baes. It was surprisingly quick to make.

The first picture better shows the circle shape of the shawl, this one shows the size.
I used Drops Alpaca and 3,5mm hook. I think this used about five balls.
