Nurmilintu

My version of Nurmilintu. A nice and quick project, no purls at all.

Made with Fyberspates Vivacious 4ply and 4mm needles. This was another skein of yarn that I had had laying around for ages, not knowing what to do with it. At first I thought about buying some more and making a shirt but I ended up going with a shawl. This yarn is wonderfully soft and feels great worn around the neck. The yarn did leave my fingers blue while knitting though, so I wonder if the colour will fade when washing for the first time. But other than that it was very nice to work with.

Leftover stripes and Pairfect

Two pairs of socks.

First is a pair with the colours from my Mandala Madness blanket. Not sure if every single colour here was used in the blanket because there might have been too little for it in the first place, but most of them were used in it.

The yarn is Novita 7 Veljestä with 3,5mm needles. Five rows of each colour. I might make another pair like this because there are still a lot of small scraps of yarn left.

The next pair is made with Regia Pairfect Cotton and 2,5mm needles. This was my first time working with Pairfect. I first heard about it last year and I found the technique really interesting, and finally I got to try it.

This was fun to make, no need to measure or count anything, just look at the colour changes. Also the cotton makes these socks nice for summer time.

I'm really tempted to buy another ball or two in different colours since this pair was so quick and fun to make. Even though I have a million projects going on, a nice pair of socks is always a good thing.

Mandala Madness parts 13 & 14

The blanket is now too big to take a photo in my apartment so I had to take it to my mom's place to get some good pictures. I also need to buy new yarn, I have a lot of left overs but they won't be enough for even a single round because of the size of the blanket (so that means a lot of socks with left over yarns).

Part 13.

A close-up.

Part 14. A red and turquoise colour combination again, not sure if I really love it but it's bright at least.

The last picture is kinda dark so this one shows the colours better. I like the look of front post stitches.

It looks so good! I want a king size bed so I can spread the finished blanket over it in all of it's glory.

KIN - socks

It feels like I haven't made a pair of socks in ages. This pair was actually supposed to be a gift for mothers day, but something happened and now, over a month later, they are finally finished.

This pattern is called KIN. Something about the cables looks so sophisticated and girly to me and I really liked making this pair (even though I left it unfinished for over a month...)

The yarn I used is Novita 7 Veljestä with 3,5mm needles. I really want to use these cables somewhere else, they look so great yet are easy to memorize and knit.

I already have two new pairs of socks going on, finishing these really got me hooked again.

Random stuff with scrap yarns

Three small projects for trying something new and testing some techniques. Since these are scrap yarns, I can't name them.

A knitted colour wheel. I saw a picture on Tumblr where someone had made one and it seemed fun so I tried something similar. There was no pattern and in the picture I saw, the wheel was made in garter stitch. I couldn't find the right shades I wanted, but this was just a test.

Just a block. No pattern again, I just started making something with no real idea. I'm not really happy with this and I don't know what I'll do with it. I couldn't get the colour right in the picture, it's a more brighter yellow in real life.

A brioche sample in mohair yarn using this pattern. I wanted to practice something different from what I've been making recently.
I should start making more blocks like these two and then join them for a blanket, it would probably be finished in about ten years.

Mandala Madness parts 11 & 12

As the blanket grows, I am running out of floor space for taking pictures.

Part 11.

Part 12 (find my toes in the picture lol). These two parts were easy after part 10, no carrying two yarns for one round. I really like these three colours -green, orange and dark purple- together.

Close-up of the two parts. I wanted to continue with the same colours, I think it looks nice, but now I'm running out of yarn again and might have to buy a new ball or two soon. But I'll try to use as much of my leftovers as I can, because that was kind of the idea behind me starting this blanket.

Another shawl

More stash busting. This is a sock yarn I'd had laying around for a long time and I never felt like making anything with it, until now.

So this yarn is Regia Funstripe Color and I managed to use up almost all of it, only a small amount was left.

The pattern is Fortune's Shawlette and I used a 5mm crochet hook.

After blocking this turned out to be a nice light and airy shawl, good for the summer time.
